“The 2021 rates policy to bring rates increases back to inflation is good news for Shirley Papanui residents”, said Darel Hall 2021 Council candidate for Shirley Papanui.

“Current Councilors have presided over increases and voted for increases that mean rates will be up 54% in six years.

“The most recent rate rise of 7.35% comes at a time when the rates of benefits and allowances have increased by only 2.63% and salary and ordinary time wage rates by 3.2%.

“This campaign I have heard a lot from rate payers all through this ward about the high levels of rate increases they have to endure and too little from current Councillors defending the rates increases they have agreed to.

“2021 has a credible track record of success of managing this City’s finances. After this election the finances will again return to people who know how to value the rates dollars”, said Darel Hall
