South Christchurch is my home; I live in Spreydon with my wife Justine and our two sons. I am a registered teacher, specialising in environmental education in schools across the city. My work is with young people, exploring contemporary urban issues like water and air quality, energy and transport.
I'm inspired by the wisdom and sense of responsibility that many young people have, and aware of our responsibility to maintain their optimism. Working together, we can create a city that our children and their children will want to live in.
I'm standing for Council with Christchurch 2021 because I believe in Christchurch's potential. Compact and easy to travel in, built around two spring-fed rivers, filled with generous and creative people, we are a growing Pacific city with wonderful opportunities.
Christchurch deserves inspiring and skilled leadership. We need councillors who have a vision of what communities in the 21st century can do to enhance quality of life and maintain the health of the environment that sustains us.
I was elected to the Community Board in 2001 and have served for the last six years. I know that people want councillors who listen and will manage consultation processes properly. I am a skilled negotiator, achieve fair resolutions and see that ratepayers' dollars are spent wisely.
My areas of focus are: safer streets, natural landscapes and heritage, urban development including transport, and building strong communities.
I would value your support, and am available to listen to your ideas and concerns.
