Oscar Alpers for Spreydon-Heathcote
Community Board
With the help of my Christchurch 2021 colleagues, I’m seeking
re-election to the Spreydon-Heathcote Community Board. I’ve
been an active member of this board since 1989, including 9 years
as its chairman. I’m a lawyer in private practice, 60, and
a former City Councillor. I’ve lived in the area for 35
years, am committed to it, and understand local issues and needs.
My main goals are protecting and enhancing our neighbourhoods,
the Port Hills and the Heathcote River environment. I listen to
the community, I want improved citizen participation in council
decision-making and I want to influence the Council to focus its
attention on relevant current issues in our community. I want
better matching of services to residents’ wants, needs and
willingness to pay, and good value for your rates dollar.
I want to keep working to ensure Christchurch remains the place
you want to live. I believe people come first and experience counts.
