With the support of Christchurch 2021 and my friends and family throughout the East of Christchurch, I am running for Community Board for the Burwood/Pegasus Ward.
If elected, my focus will be to strengthen community services such as youth, housing and health policies, as well as providing a stronger, and thereby safer community, by strengthening neighbourhood networks.
To improve street appeal and a cleaner environment for this ward area, many people have now resorted to paying for 'wheelie bins". Unfortunately, some families and individuals find this necessary, but impossible to fit within the weekly budget. I believe a push for the reintroduction of 52 rubbish bags will assist in this area.
I am a young Maori woman living with my partner and our five children and, like many families, have struggled through some tough times. This, I believe, gives me my heart and passion to advocate for the people, and a strong desire to share what I've learnt.
I am happy to discuss any issues and can be contacted via email on map88@student.canterbury.ac.nz, or you can leave a message on (03) 9424 683. I will endeavour to return any calls within 24 hours.
