Throughout my working life I have enjoyed serving the needs of others, as a Police Officer protecting their interests, as a student for Priesthood listening and responding, and as an MP and lawyer advocating on their behalf. I offer this experience to serve you on the Burwood-Pegasus Community Board within the Christchurch 2021 team.
I believe a sound principle of social justice is that the people most affected by a decision should be most involved in the decision-making process. Community Boards are important bodies in the decision-making process in our great city and must be responsive to the needs and desires of the People they represent.
The Christchurch 2021 team is committed to making our city a better place; sharing a vision, to promote the Common Good of all our citizens.
I enjoyed the privilege of serving all New Zealanders as an Alliance Member of Parliament in the Labour-Alliance Government and now look forward to serving the People of the Burwood-Pegasus Ward as a Community Board Member.
If elected, I would pledge myself as a guardian and trustee of our ward's heritage, assets, resources, environment and most importantly, its People.
