Community Board work is about local issues and local people.
It's about building a sense of community belonging and ownership.
My commitment to you is to work hard for a community that we all
feel a part of, where we all feel safe, and where we can get things
done.
I'm a proud Cantabrian, born and bred in Christchurch. I'm also
an inner city resident, and every day I make use of the wonderful
opportunities the central city has to offer. I want to help ensure
that these opportunities remain within easy reach of ordinary
Christchurch residents, and not just business people.
I want to live in a community which respects its heritage and
celebrates its diversity. There should be no major changes to
the Arts Centre, and everyone should feel welcome in Cathedral
Square. Buildings should be in harmony with their surroundings,
and the central city should be a friendly place for pedestrians.
I have extensive advocacy, governance, and representative experience,
including over five years on the Bioethics Council and four years
on the Human Rights Review Tribunal. I've also an extensive education
in ethics and information technology. I want to put this experience
to work for you on our Community Board.
