I have lived, breathed and studied health all my life. As a nurse who has worked in hospitals, in general practice and in the community, I know first-hand about people and their health needs. I have worked in the Ministry of Health, in Maori health and in business. I have studied health economics and public health - not only disease, but also the other factors that affect a person's wellbeing. I still work in health, and having been a District Health Board member I am now seeking re-election.
On the board, I will represent the interests of those with special health needs, the disabled, elderly and our children. I will work for better access to high quality health services in our rural communities. I will seek education for all involved in health - people who are unwell, their families and their health carers.
I played a leading role in establishing Asthma Societies throughout New Zealand, and I am committed to improving the prevention and management of chronic diseases - essential for improving peoples' health and wellbeing.
Health is my passion and improving your health services is my objective. My experience will enable me to be your effective voice on the District Health Board.
