Water
• Because of liquefaction areas near Avon River worst affected
• Lots of breaks in water pipes in New Brighton area - ¼ of breaks have been repaired but as a repair is completed new breaks may be identified
• Priority being given to where single break, rather than multiple breaks
• Tankers are available
• Water should be conserved
• All water for human consumption should be boiled for 3 minutes
• If water supply is reinstated it may be turned off at a later stage
• If water restored to an area but a house still without they need to get their connection to the house checked by a plumber
Wastewater/sewerage
• Because of liquefaction New Brighton in from coast and near Avon River worst affected area
• Breakages in network
• There will be sewage spillages into Avon River and Estuary
• Minimise water use
• Flush only if necessary, Minimise water discharge from shower, dishwashing, and clothes washing
Solid waste/rubbish
• Collections for the bins will resume on Monday 6 September.
• Bricks, concrete, masonry should not be put in red bin
• Some residents may have to put their bins where access can be gained from the street.
Power
• There are still areas where there are outages
• These may be small scattered blocks – next door to where there is power restored
• We are asked to conserve power
• Where cables are ruptured – as in New Brighton – they will take longer to fix
• Should be detailed update from Orion by end of Sunday.

Roads
• Local roads out – Dyers Road, Anzac Drive (Sth of Pages Rd); Gayhurst Road, Avonside Drive (Wainoni Rd-Pembroke St); New Brighton Rd (near Palmers RD); Locksley Ave (McBratneys to DallingtonTce)
• Condition survey being undertaken today
• Work will begin on priority broads
• Cordons will be reduced wherever possible
• Bridges out – South New Brighton, Dallington Bridge.
Buses
• Not operating
• Looking at getting some basic service re-started.
• Bus exchanges is not accessible yet
Damage to private property
• Residents should photograph damage and report to Earthquake Commission (EQC)

Welfare
• Sector posts open daytime at Parkview School and South New Brighton School
• Welfare Centres (for people to stay) at Linwood College, Burnside HS and Addington raceway
• There could be more demand for welfare centres later in week as more homes declared uninhabitable
• Mairehau HS and Aranui HS not uses as welfare centres at this stage as do not have power
• Blankets and tarpaulins coming from the North Island
Volunteer offers
• Can not be usefully used centrally at this stage
• Volunteers can register at the welfare centres or sector posts
Schools
• All schools will be closed Monday/Tuesday 6/7 September
• When they re-open will depend on state of the buildings and on water/sewerage provisions
CBD
• Curfew again tonight 5 September – 7pm – 7am
• All buildings being assessed Sunday
• Then up to building owners to have more detailed checks done
Weather
• Strong winds forecast for today
• Some rain on Tuesday
• Cold spell Thursday/Friday
• Spring tides late in the week
Council
• New building has quite a lot of damage - Should be repaired this week
• Only essential staff will be at work this week – rest back on 13/14 September
• No Council meetings or hearings this week at all
• Libraries and recreation centres closed Monday – will open when they have been assessed
• Service centre likely to be open Monday
• Social Housing – housing officers will be visiting from Monday
• Will be tolerance for late payment of rates etc

Judy is a current Community Board member for the Riccarton - Wigram ward. She is involved in a number of other organisations for youth, education and the wider community.

Jasmin has strong experience working in the health sector. She is one of our youngest candidates and possesses a vibrant personality and a positive attitude.

Islay lives in Linwood. She loves the area and wants to restore the community and environmental values that once had Christchurch residents proud to live here.

Karolin is an educator in the Human Rights Commission, a JP and a current community board member. Concerns are gaps between those who have and do not and the environment.

Julie is a Correspondence School liaison teacher and has served as a deputy and acting principal at a local school. She wants to represent an area she has been part of for 40 years.

A board member for three years, Linda has a Community Service Award and is on Keep Christchurch Beautiful and Civil Defence. The environment and safe, happy communities are concerns for her.







Tracey is a dynamic, energetic woman with several years of community involvement. She is willing to stand up for the underdog and speak for those who cannot speak up for themselves.
